Just try to find an area of art music and design in which Gabriel Solis has not had extensive experience. From designing studio and building sets for companies such as MTV, VH-1 and Hollywood movie studios, producing storyboards for Mattel's favorite gal, Barbie , doing work for private art collectors such as Steve Martin, Cher, and Vincent Price, colorizing vintage black and white films for Ted Turner, to performing in front of such clients as The World Cup, and at The 1996 Olympics, Gabriel has spent over 30 years honing his artistic and musical skills. As a visual artist, Gabriel works closely with decorators, builders, and individual clients to bring a multi-dimensional feel to interior and exterior spaces through art, and paints on stage while also playing music for various venues. He has the ability to transform a vision into reality while still bringing to the project his own experience and interpretation. Utilizing elements from traditional art form and entertainment industry set design, his artwork music, digital design and decorative paintings are unique in a field bogged down with less than quality techniques and styles. He is also known for his masters style in painting, authentic wall glazes and Venetian plaster, antiquing and gilding, trompe l'oeil, murals, and stunning interior design finishes. He is also a well-traveled and seasoned musician and songwriter who has conquered the Los Angeles local scene, climbed a mountain of performances, recorded and performed on the same stage with artists such as Carlos Santana, The Gypsy Kings, Bonnie Raitt, Lyle Lovette and Ray Charles, and has performed from small night clubs in Hermosa Beach, California to over 75 thousand people in Centennial Park for the 1996 Olympicsin Atlanta, Georgia, and at Farm Aid, in Indianapolis, Indiana.Gabriel moved to Los Angeles with the band the Qkumbrz, became a name of local L.A. legend, saturating the South Bay and Hollywood areas with the same Midwest-flavor that had made the group such a consistent crowd-friendly favorite on Sunset strip. Blitzing crowds with infectious, guitar-and- keyboard driven pop and feel good, celebratory rock, it wasn’t long before they were noticed by a local management team with ties to Heartland rocker John Mellencamp, who not only hand-picked the band to share a stage with him at Farm Aid, but also wrote and recorded with the Qkumbrz, placing their "Hold Me Like You Used To" on the acclaimed soundtrack for his motion picture directing debut, "Falling From Grace."He migrated to Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1997, to get back in touch with his mid-western roots. Utilizing his Bachelor of Arts degree in commercial art, communications, and Journalism, along with over 30 years of professional experience, Gabriel also freelances as a professional and private commission artist. With his background in the entertainment (both onstage and backstage) and design industries, it was only natural for his artisan business, to expand beyond the canvas to digital design, walls, furniture, ceilings, architectural structures, murals, antique replicas, fine art and performance art. .
